  • National Lowline Sale - January 15, 2008

      The Eighth Annual National Lowline Sale was held January 15 at the National Western Stock Show. Fullblood females were in strong demand with many high quality heifers selling throughout the US. Leading off and co-topping the offering was a bred heifer, LTL Sedalia consigned by Lone Tree Lowlines, Loveland, CO. selling to Chatham Ridge Farm, Old Chatham, NY for $14000. This Iowa State Fair Grand Champion was sired by LTL Dillon. Another bred female, MCR Poison Ivy, the reigning NILE Grand Champion, consigned by Muddy Creek Ranch, Wilsall, MT cross the block at $14000 to a Montana buyer. A consignment by Big Island Lowlines, Edmonton, AB, Alta Liza Jane, brought $9250 on a bid from Mike and Laurie Smith, Eager, AZ

      The high selling cow/calf pair, consigned by Chatham Ridge Farm, was Bar J Nell 0K9-4P1 with a heifer calf at side going to Two Rivers Organic Ranch, Bennington, OK for $9750.

      Topping the open fullblood heifers at $9800 was Miss Double J 53T, consigned by Double J Cattle Co, North Platte, NE going to JET Lowlines, Cody, NE. Southside Stables, Schenectady, NY sold Southside Riuka for $9600 to Dean Settje, Raymond, NE. Ronald Runner, Agra, OK purchased Bar J Aspen 7T14 at $7500 from Bar J Ranch, Brooten, MN.

      A flush from the dam of last years National Champion Bull, Supersonic, consigned by Bonanza, LLC, Kennewick, WA sold to Trevor Smith, Kiowa, CO for $4000.

      In the percentage division, the high selling heifer was Bar J Polly T8. This ¾ blood spring calf was consigned by Bar J Ranch and sold to Mike Hudlow, Fayetteville, AR for $2900. R&R Cattle company, Rochester, NH, sold R&R Bella, a ½ blood open heifer for $2800 to David Amato, Bolivar, OH. Selling at $2600 was a ½ blood Brenton’s Image daughter from Jet Lowlines on a bid from Muddy Creek Ranch. Another popular ½ blood bred female was a Bar J Ponderosa daughter sold by Jake Reed Cattle Co, Fargo, ND and purchased by Gerry Roach, Mekinock, ND for $2500.

      The top selling fullblood bull, EZ Solid 59S, from Effertz EZ Ranch, Bismarck, ND went to David James, Arlington, TN for $4600. Fairwyn Farms, Burlington, WI sold a Beau Ladd son for $3000 to Two Rivers Organic Ranch. Schmit Farms, Oaks, ND sold a ¾ blood son of Fairwyn’s Machine to Muddy Creek Ranch for $3000

      High selling embryo lot was 5 embryos by Vitulus Awesome Red x Lazy G Venus consigned by Lazy G Lowlines, Yelm, WA selling to Bruce and Sheri Dennis, Stonewall, OK for $4500 each.

      The 2007 National Lowline Sale set yet another record, grossing $494,150 on 94 lots. 

      Topping this year’s sale at $26,000 was a bred, two-year old, fullblood daughter of PX Baxter consigned by Big Valley Cattle Co, Kiowa, Colorado. Purchased by Ethan Vorhes, Marble Rock, Iowa, this female went on to be the Grand Champion Female of the open show.

      Lone Tree Lowline Cattle Company, Loveland, Colorado, consigned LTL Gypsum, the Iowa State Fair Grand Champion.  This daughter of LTL Telluride brought $19,000 on a bid from John de Bruin, Santa Barbara, California.

      Muddy Creek Ranch, Wilsall, Montana,, sat in and purchased Fairwyn’s Santana, a June heifer calf by Transam for $18,750.  She was consigned by Fairwyn Farms, Burlington, Wisconsin.

      In the fullblood bull sale, Lone Tree Lowlines came back with LTL Durango, the Iowa and Nile Grand Champion.  This Beau Lad son sold to John de Bruin for $17,000.

      JJ Rudy 1R, last years Reserve National Champion Bull, sold to Ethan Vorhes for $15,000.  Bred and shown by 2-J Livestock, this son of BR Absolut 1L, repeated as the 2007 Reserve National Champion.

      In the purebred and percentage division, Big Valley Cattle Co sold a ¾ blood,  LB Wyatt daughter with a purebred heifer calf for $4500.  She sold to Amy Crawford, Hopland, CA. TH Miss Betsy, a purebred Utah daughter, bred to Fairwyns Machine, consigned by Thirstyhorse, Livermore, CO brought $ 4,250 from Heather Raab, Rochester, NH. A fancy, ½ blood belted daughter of ABF Fitz from Genesis Livestock, Webberville, MI sold to Jeb Fuller, Cartersville, GA for $3,500

      The high selling embryo package brought $12,400 for 4 embryos by Ardrossan Findon.  Consigned by the Ardrossan Stud, Vic, AU., the package was purchased by Amy Crawford.
