While we were in Denver, Colorado in 2001, we were doing
quite well in showing Saler cattle. The weather was cold, windy
and snowing. With tension, stress and anxiety weighing heavily on
us, we decided to go for a walk through the yards. When we got to
the Pepsi Arena they were having the Low Line Show. So, after the
show we looked at the different exhibitors stalls and Dakota Classic Low
Lines, owned by Tom Gunderson, had on display the most beautiful bull I
had every seen in any breed Dakota 04H. Behind him was a beautiful
cow Sara GU7G. Two months later, the first week in March, I
couldn't stand it any longer and called Dakota Classic Low Lines and
told them I wanted to purchase both the bull and cow. We agreed on
the price, and that was the start of the Low Lines in my life and I
thank GOD for that decision.
Since then it has been nothing but a success story in
showing and selling Low Line cattle. Due to our age, I am 75 and
my wife is 71 years old and because of the disposition of these cattle
we have had no problem caring for them ourselves. We have a nice
ranch in eastern Montana where the Saler cattle are kept, however we we
get the numbers up in the Low Lines we will convert the Montana ranch to
entirely to full blood Low Line cattle. The success story for me
is Trevor Smith of Kiowa, Colorado who shows and fits these cattle, he
is the best. We have about 20 full blood embryo babies in the
spring of 2007 and 6 natural calf's from our cows.
